How to charge the OB20 Security Cam?
- Please note that all OB20 cameras are shipped from the factory with the battery charged to approximately 40%-50%. For better use, please charge the camera preferably for 10 hours before use.
- OB20 will also send a low-battery notification to your smartphone via the app when the camera needs to be recharged.
- OB20 has a built-in solar panel that requires at least two hours of direct sunlight per day to keep the camera constantly charged, and you would never have to manually recharge the camera!
How long does a fully charged OB20 Security Cam?
- A fully charged OB20 can last 5-7 days. Additionally, the OB20 has a built-in solar panel, which can automatically recharge the battery if the camera receives at least 3-4 hours of direct sunlight daily.
- Normal temperature: 68°F / 20°C
- 20 motion detections per day and cameras recorded for 15 seconds each time a motion was detected.
- Usage time includes standby power consumption.
Battery Usage Life | Sunny days: In full sunlight, the solar panel continuously charges the battery, theoretically unlimited battery life (9W solar panel sunshine 3-4h). |
Cloudy/continuous rainy day: In case of continuous rain or low light, it will use the 12000mah built-in battery for power. In low-power mode, it can work continuously for about 5-7 days; if full-time monitoring is turned on, the range may be shortened to 1 day, and hybrid mode can work continuously for 2-3 days. | |
Daily: For daily use, under the alternating scenario of charging on sunny days& power consumption on cloudy days, the device can basically maintain long-term operation without frequent maintenance. |
How to Improve Battery Life
- The installation location of the camera should avoid roadside or crowded places.
- Try not to point the camera towards heat sources such as air conditioning units or the sun to avoid triggering the "motion detection" by mistake.
- Reduce sensitivity and decrease the range of motion detection.
- Set up an alarm plan and plan the alarm time period reasonably.
- Set alarm intervals to avoid uninterrupted alarms.
- Set the recording duration to 10 seconds.
- Maintain a smooth and stable network environment for camera operation,
- Ensure that solar panels receive sufficient sunlight.
