Failed to Add the Camera in WIFI Mode
If you’re having trouble in connecting the camera to Wi-Fi during the setup process, please follow the troubleshooting below:
Phase 1: Initial Setup & Physical Checks
- Power Up: It is recommended to charge the camera before you attempt to add it.
- Mode Switch: Ensure the physical network switch is set to the "WiFi" position.
- Indicator Light: In WiFi mode, the indicator light should be Yellow.
- Perform a Reset: If the light is not flashing red/blue, press and hold the Reset button for 5 seconds, then release it when you hear a prompt sound.
- Router Restart: If the connection fails, try unplugging your router's power adapter and reinserting it.
Phase 2: WiFi Network Verification (Crucial)
- 2.4GHz Only: The camera only supports 2.4GHz WiFi. Most setup failures occur because 5GHz WiFi was selected.
- How to identify 2.4GHz: Most routers have two signals; the one without the "-5G" suffix is typically 2.4GHz.
- Check Password: Verify that the selected WiFi name and password are correct.
Firewall Restrictions: Advanced enterprise-level routers or high-security firewalls may prevent smart products from joining the network.
Phase 3: App Operation & Scanning Tips
- Correct App: Ensure you are using the official NIVIEW APP.
- Select Mode: When scanning the QR code, ensure you have manually selected "WiFi mode" within the app.
- Wait for Red/Blue Flash: Only scan the QR code when the indicator light is flashing alternately between red and blue.
- Scanning Distance: Adjust the distance between your phone and the lens. A prompt sound from the camera indicates a successful scan.
Hotspot Connection: After a successful scan, the phone will automatically connect to the camera's hotspot to send WiFi information.
Phase 4: Advanced Troubleshooting
- Mobile Hotspot Test: If 2.4GHz WiFi still fails, try connecting the camera to a mobile hotspot from another phone to rule out router compatibility issues.
- Phone Compatibility: Some phone models may have compatibility issues with point-to-point WiFi pairing. Try using a different smartphone to perform the setup.
How to identify 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi?
- Only dual-band routers support 2.4GHz/5GHz WiFi and For Hybrid router, the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same Wi-Fi name.
- Most of routers come with two default WiFi names, such as xxxx and xxxx-5G. Typically, models without the "-5G" suffix operate in the 2.4GHz frequency band.
- If you are unsure, you can access the router's settings to check the specific network name or try separating the frequency bands.
There is no response when scanning the QR code when adding a camera.
